B of A Board Still Mulling CEO Choice

Bank of America Corp.'s board was meeting Tuesday about hiring a new chief executive but had made no announcement as of press time.

A company spokesman confirmed the meeting but he would not comment further.

The board has twice missed its deadline to select a successor to CEO Kenneth Lewis, who in September announced plans to retire at yearend.

Many observers expected B of A to name Lewis' successor, since last week it arranged a plan to exit the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Separately, a U.S. judge rejected B of A's request for access to internal Securities and Exchange Commission documents concerning the regulator's review of a joint proxy statement outlining B of A's acquisition of Merrill Lynch & Co.
