B of A's Online Chief Joins JPMorgan Chase

Bank of America Corp.'s head of online banking is defecting to rival JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Reuters reported Thursday that David Owen will become chief financial officer of JPMorgan Chase's consumer banking unit starting Monday. He replaces John Samunek, who is moving on to a new role on the bank's customer experience team, according to Reuters.

Owen had been with B of A since 2003 and was most recently its online, mobile, fraud and claims executive. In October, the company's web site grabbed headlines when customers reported difficulty logging in to their accounts over a six-day period. Owen said then that the problems stemmed from a combination of heavy user traffic and ongoing systems upgrade and were not a result of hacking, as some customers had feared.

Aditya Bhasin, B of A's consumer marketing executive, will take on the additional title of online banking executive, according to news reports. Bhasin has been with the bank since 2004.
