BankAtlantic to Add Android Banking App

BankAtlantic plans to release a mobile banking application for smartphones that run Google Inc.'s Android software.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., subsidiary of BankAtlantic Bancorp on Wednesday said the Android app will allow customers to view balances and transactions, transfer funds between accounts and locate nearby branches and automated teller machines.

The app adds to the company's mobile banking roster, which includes apps for Apple Inc.'s iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. BankAtlantic also provides account access through mobile Web browsers and text messages. The app will be available early this summer.

"For Android users these new capabilities reflect our ongoing commitment to create both value and convenience that help them manage their finances while on the go," Lloyd DeVaux, the chief operating officer of BankAtlantic, said in a press release.
