BankUnited (BKU) in Miami Lakes, Fla., has hired a chief compliance officer.
Marie Blake now oversees the $13.1 billion-asset company's regulatory compliance department, it said Tuesday. BankUnited's previous chief compliance officer, Suzanne Ross, left the company several months ago, a spokeswoman said.
Blake joined BankUnited in August from Regions Financial (RF) in Birmingham, Ala., where she was senior vice president and group compliance manager.
"With [Blake]'s vast knowledge and in-depth experience in all areas of compliance and risk management, she will play a critical role in overseeing BankUnited's comprehensive regulatory compliance program," Chairman and Chief Executive John Kanas said.
