Barclaycard Exec Joins Prosper as Chief Risk Officer

Prosper Marketplace, the online peer-to-peer loan facilitator, announced Oct. 3 that it hired Josh Tonderys, a former executive at Barclaycard US, to be its chief risk officer.

At Barclaycard, Tonderys was a senior director and responsible for its open market business, where he oversaw strategy, analytics and growth initiatives for the Barclaycard credit-card portfolio, according to a Prosper news release.

"Josh brings directly relevant credit experience and leadership to the Prosper team, which is a huge asset as we move into our next phase of accelerating borrower and investor adoption," said Dawn Lepore, Prosper's CEO, in the release.

As chief risk officer, Tonderys will oversee all aspects of credit risk management for Prosper. He will report to Kirk Inglis, Prosper's chief operating officer.

"Prosper is in a unique position to provide a great option for responsible borrowers while providing investors direct profitable access to the consumer loan market," Tonderys said in the release.
