BB&T Corp. has consolidated its check processing operations using distributed image capture technology from Software Earnings Inc. of Memphis.
Software Earnings said Monday that BB&T has installed the Payments Navigator software, which lets employees convert deposited checks into images at several remote sites and transmit them to a central processing hub. The software is designed to reduce transportation costs and allow banks to offer their customers later deposit deadlines, the vendor said.
"As the payment landscape becomes increasingly electronic, it was important that BB&T capture check images as close to the source as possible and automatically determine the optimal path for the image to reach the bank," Tim Dillow, BB&T's senior vice president, said in a Software Earnings press release.
