BB&T Corp. has agreed to purchase 300 automated teller machines from Diebold Inc. as it upgrades its network of 2,100 machines.
Diebold, of North Canton, Ohio, announced the deal Tuesday. The $131 billion-asset BB&T, of Winston-Salem, N.C., plans to install several different models from Diebold's high-end Opteva product line at branches and off-premise sites in 11 states and Washington, D.C.
The banking company plans to install the machines gradually between now and 2010; 20 will be running by yearend.
