BB&T Corp. has begun to use the check image network of Endpoint Exchange LLC, a unit of Metavante Technologies Inc. of Milwaukee.

The Winston-Salem, N.C., banking company is a customer of Clearing House Payments Co. LLC's SVPCO image network, which connects BB&T to Endpoint Exchange.

Steve Anderson, a senior vice president at BB&T, said Monday that even though it sends most of its volume through SVPCO and the shared check archive managed by Viewpointe LLC, his company wanted to link to Endpoint to be able to exchange images with small banks that do not have access to the other channels.

BB&T is trying to ramp up its image volume quickly, Mr. Anderson said. "We want to get as close to 100% as we can, and we're exchanging over 90%, both on the send and receive side already."

Though it is possible to connect individually with other institutions, "this was the most intuitive and fastest to be able to reach these various endpoints," he said.
