BITS Promotes Smocer to President

The Financial Services Roundtable board said on Friday that Paul Smocer has been named president of its technology policy division, BITS.

Smocer, who has 35 years of technology and risk management experience, most recently was executive vice president at BITS. He led initiatives to strengthen email security and advance practices for identifying and validating online customers. He succeeds Leigh Williams, who left Roundtable to serve as director of the Treasury's Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Compliance Policy.

BITS represents 100 of the largest financial services companies providing banking, insurance and investment products.
