William Blair & Co. LLC in Chicago announced that Patrick J. Sheppard will join the firm Sept. 4 as chief operating officer of William Blair Investment Management.
Mr. Sheppard was the president and chief operating officer at Boston Company Asset Management, a unit of Bank of New York Mellon Corp., where he was responsible for operations, compliance, risk, technology, performance, and administration functions, the Chicago company said on Monday.
Previously, he held senior management roles at Scudder Kemper Investments and Scudder, Stevens & Clark.
William Blair Investment Management, which had $47 billion of assets under management at June 30, builds customized and structured portfolios for cash; domestic fixed-income securities; and domestic, international, and global equities.
