California CU Expands Gila Outsourcing Deal

Mocse Credit Union of Modesto, Calif., has expanded an outsourcing agreement with Gila Corp., which specializes in collections for credit unions.

Gila, of Austin, said it will now collect on all of the $191 million-asset Mocse's loan and credit card accounts that are 15 days or more past due, and on significantly overdrawn bank accounts that are more than 30 days delinquent. Previously, Gila only collected on indirect auto loans for Mocse. (Gila does not work accounts that have been charged off.)

"Gila Group staff act as de facto employees of the credit union, so the process is seamless to Mocse's members," Patrick J. Swanick, Gila's chief executive, said in a press release issued Tuesday.

Gila employees must sign a "professional collector's pledge" that says, "I will always treat every individual with dignity and respect."
