Capital Briefs: FDIC Report Weighs the Risks Ahead

In its twice-a-year evaluation of the risks facing banks, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. on Monday cited rises in subprime, high-loan-to-value consumer, and leveraged commercial lending.

Stress in the farm sector could also lead to bank losses, the agency noted in its Regional Outlook report. Copies of the national report or any of the eight regional versions may be obtained by calling the FDIC at 202- 898-3898, or on the agency's Web site, www.fdic.gov.
