The Senate Banking Committee has scheduled an April 22 hearing on Donna A. Tanoue's nomination to be Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. chairman.

Ms. Tanoue, a Honolulu banking lawyer and former commissioner of financial institutions in Hawaii, was nominated by President Clinton in November. Fed Governor Andrew C. Hove Jr. has been acting chairman since Ricki Helfer resigned in June.
