NYCE Network Opens Office Near Boston

BURLINGTON, Mass. - NYCE Corp., the regional ATM network, opened an office in the Boston suburb of Burlington to gain what it termed "a local presence in a key marketplace."

The new office, headed by account manager Estelle Abood, will serve as a sales and customer service outlet for the New England area.

Ms. Abood, who came to NYCE via Electronic Payment Services Inc.'s MAC network, has 12 years of experience in the electronic funds transfer business. Wholesaler Buying 5,000 Hypercom Terminals

PHOENIX - Hypercom Inc. announced that National Bankcard Association Inc., one of the largest wholesalers of point of sale bank card equipment and supplies in the United States, has agreed to purchase 5,000 T7P terminals.

The deal gives Hypercom access to the San Diego firm's 15,000 merchants.

The T7P system supports draft capture, debit cards, checks, and private-label card processing. The system also allows upgrades for future point of sale needs. First Chicago NBDJoins Antifraud Initiative

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - First Chicago NBD Corp. has entered into an agreement with Primary Payment Systems Inc. and Cash Station Inc. to participate in Deposit Chek, which assists financial institutions in fighting check fraud and check losses.

Primary Payment Systems, which developed Deposit Chek, updates a daily data base of checking accounts and compares checks for warnings of potential nonpayment, is owned by participating financial institutions and associations.

Cash Station is a member-owned electronic funds transfer network. The network, which is a part-owner and the exclusive sales agent for Primary Payment Systems products in the Midwest, processes nearly 100 million interchange transactions each year.

First Chicago NBD will contribute information on 36 million checking accounts to the Primary Payment Systems service. Advanta Gets New Call-Distribution System

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Aspect Telecommunications has installed an automatic call distribution system at Advanta Corp., the nation's eighth-largest credit card issuer.

Advanta is now using its second Aspect CallCenter to manage consumer credit card customer service. The recently installed call center is located at Advanta corporate headquarters in Horsham, Pa.

By this fall, a networked configuration of five Aspect CallCenters will enable Advanta customer service representatives to handle millions of calls per month for credit cards, mortgages, leases, and insurance and deposit products, the company said.
