Card Briefs: Checkmate Terminal Cleared for Interac Use

ROSWELL, Ga. - Checkmate Electronics Inc., said its CM 2001 point of sale terminal has been certified by Toronto Dominion Bank for use in Canada's Interac debit card network.

Checkmate pointed out that Interac has strict security standards and only a few manufacturers have obtained certification.

The CM 2001 accommodates credit, debit, and automated teller machine cards along with personal identification numbers.

"Meeting the Interac Association physical security standards is an important milestone for Checkmate as it expands the potential market for CM 2001 terminals to include the estimated $100 million Canadian market," said Jerry P. Malec, president and chief executive.
