Card Briefs: Hotels Prefer Visa, Says Study It Ordered

Visa emerged as the preferred card for hoteliers in a survey conducted by D.K. Shifflet & Associates Ltd., and commissioned by Visa.

Visa secured 59% of the votes of those who indicated a preference, followed by MasterCard at 16% and American Express 15%.

The survey, conducted during the first week in April, polled 348 hotel owners and managers at U.S. hotels with 50 or more rooms.

Of those preferring Visa, 74% said it was because of lower transaction fees.

Also, the hotel managers said 64% of guests prefer to use Visa cards for payment. American Express was the favorite for 17%, while 16% of the guests preferred MasterCard.
