Card Briefs: Hypercom Adds Pad For Signature Capture

PHOENIX - Hypercom Inc. announced the availability of its CS7 signature capture pad, which allows for the digital capture and storage of signatures with credit card transactions.

The CS7 is compatible with all of Hypercom's T series terminals. When the transaction receipt is placed over the pressure-sensitive pad, it creates an "electronic carbon copy" of the documentation.

"When a charge is disputed, a merchant bank frequently has to request a copy of the transaction receipt from the merchant, something that isn't always available and is always costly," said Hypercom president Al Irato. Signature capture facilitates instant verifications of disputed charges without having to contact the merchant.

Hypercom also offers personal computer and client-server-based software for transaction processing firms to create a storage and retrieval system.
