MasterCard International Inc. has launched an advertising campaign on the Internet to generate traffic on its Web site.

The first phase will run through the first quarter, displaying MasterCard service and product information in banner ads on search engines, publications, and travel sites including Infoseek, Excite, Webcrawler, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Travelocity, and Preview Travel.

In the second quarter, MasterCard will expand the offers and services based on consumer feedback.
