The use of prepaid debit cards at Cardtronics-owned ATMs continues to grow at a steady pace, with reloadable cards accounting for 16% of U.S. withdrawal volume during the third quarter.

Cardtronics has renewed its contract with Walgreens to be a preferred provider of ATM services.
A Cardtronics (CATM) spokesperson could not specify the terms of the contract, but did say it is a multi-year deal.
Over the last 10 years, Cardtronics' ATM presence in Walgreens locations has grown from less than 400 initially to more than 3,250.
Besides its contract renewal, Houston, Texas-based Cardtronics will also support the Walgreens Balance Financial prepaid program in which cardholders can access their cash, with no surcharge, by using the ATMs at Walgreens stores.
