Cash Payment Service in Peru

Western Union Co. has started offering walk-in, cash-based bill payments in Peru.

The Englewood, Colo., company said last week that it would offer the service through its agents in the country under the Pago de Servicios brand.

It offers its electronic Quick Pay service in about 200 countries, but its cash service was previously offered only in the United States and Argentina.

Western Union said consumer bill payments generate about 13% of its revenue. Annual transaction volume increased about 145% between 2002 and 2007, to 404 million payments.

"We expect that our bill payment business will also grow considerably outside of the United States," Royal Cole, a Western Union executive vice president, said in a press release.
