JPMorgan Chase said Friday that anyone in the New York area, including noncustomers, can send a text message to the company through Aug. 9. Its systems will send an automatic reply telling the senders whether they have won tickets.

The text-message banking service lets customers send a message to JPMorgan Chase, which automatically responds with their balance.

Michael Fusco, a JPMorgan Chase spokesman, said in an interview that the contest "shows that Chase is interactive with our customers and builds awareness about Chase's mobile campaign."

JPMorgan Chase is a corporate sponsor for the tournament, which starts Aug. 19.
