Chief Operating Officer at MidSouth in Louisiana Dies

MidSouth Bancorp's (MSL) chief operating officer and vice chairman died over the weekend.

Gerald Reaux, 53, "succumbed to an illness he had been battling for a while," KATC.com reported on Monday. Reaux joined the Lafayette, La., company in 2011. He previously served as president and chief executive of Acadiana Bancshares, spearheading its merger with IberiaBank (IBKC) in 2003.

"This is a significant loss for the MidSouth family," Rusty Cloutier, the $1.9 billion-asset company's president and CEO, said in a press release.  "We have lost a great friend and a wonderful leader."

Cloutier will temporarily take over Reaux's duties as COO.
