Citizens Republic Bancorp of Flint, Mich., is using imaging technology from Metavante Technologies Inc.
Metavante said Wednesday that the $13.1 billion-asset Citizens has installed its SendPoint Branch system to convert deposited checks into images and reduce item processing expenses.
Citizens also uses Metavante teller systems, which are interoperable with SendPoint Branch, and the Milwaukee company's SendPoint Merchant remote deposit application.
"While check volumes are declining at more than 4% per year on a nationwide basis, the costs to clear checks through traditional channels are continuing to rise," Jerry Bettens, a senior vice president at Citizens and its chief information officer, said in a Metavante press release. "Metavante's branch capture solution has helped us defray these rising clearing costs."
Citizens has 233 branches in Michigan, Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.
