An April 9 story, "St. Louis Bank Owner Buys Another Stake in California" (page 8), implied that banker James F. Dierberg's first acquired an interest in SierraWest Bancorp in February, when his Investors of America LP purchased $2.8 million of convertible debentures. (The debentures were converted into a 8.6% equity stake in the bank earlier this month.)

The debentures were purchased from Tidal Insurance-another investment group controlled by Mr. Dierberg-which acquired them in 1995.
