Contactless Issuing Tool from Dynamic

Dynamic Card Solutions LLC of Englewood, Colo., said its CardWizard software for instant card issuing and PIN selection can be used for contactless cards.

"The card market is continuously evolving, and new opportunities such as contactless technology are making headway, because of the ease and convenience offered to consumers, coupled with the revenue-generation opportunities that the technology brings to financial institutions," Ron Zanotti, Dynamic Card's vice president of sales and marketing, said Tuesday in a press release. "Having the ability to instantly issue a contactless card increases the number of card transactions and shortens the time it takes consumers to use their cards for first purchase."

Last year banks issued 12.5 million of MasterCard Inc.'s PayPass contactless cards, 5.7 million of Visa Inc.'s PayWave cards and 3 million of American Express Co.'s ExpressPay cards, according to Dynamic Card.

More than 30,000 merchants across the country accept contactless payment devices, the vendor said.

The software can be used to personalize contactless cards printed on Dynamic Card's CardWizard FCP 20/20 printers or on Datacard Corp.'s 150i embosser, Dynamic Card said. (In 2006, Dynamic Card and Datacard named each other "preferred vendors" for software and hardware.)

Dynamic Card said that a financial institution, which it did not identify, will install and test the contactless version of the software with both types of machines this month.
