Don Powell, the Texas banker President Bush has nominated to be Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. chairman, and John Chalsty, former chairman of Credit Suisse First Boston and now a senior adviser to it, each agreed to raise $100,000 as deputy chairmen of the dinner. Citigroup lobbyist Roger Levy agreed to raise $50,000. AFLAC agreed to donate $250,000 to be listed as a vice chairman, and Capital One raised $50,000.
