A Nov. 4 article on page 9, "FHLB to Ease Member Rules, Add Services for Small Banks," mischaracterized David F. Holland's position on the Chicago pilot test of the Federal Home Loan Bank System's Mortgage Finance Partnership program.

Mr. Holland, chairman and chief executive officer of Boston Federal Savings Bank, did not single out the Chicago test or say it is risky. He said Home Loan banks should not deliver retail services or add retail products, and should not initiate pilot projects that contribute to margin compression at member banks.

A Jan. 4 news brief page 4 overstated the per-share impact of a fourth- quarter charge that Home Federal Bancorp of Seymour, Ind., said it would take. The $180,000 charge works out to 3.3 cents per share, not 33 cents.
