A June 11 article, "Executive Brings Chase a World of Experience" (page 14), overstated Chase Manhattan Corp.'s rank in worldwide asset management. Chase says its private banking group ranks fifth among private banking units in the field, not among all types of asset managers.

A June 9 story, "Investors Speculate that Buffett Didn't Unload Wells After All" (page 25), incorrectly juxtaposed several comments by George M. Salem, the bank analyst. In saying that Wells Fargo's management reputation "has suffered meaningful harm," Mr. Salem was referring to the "poor execution" of its merger with First Interstate Bancorp, rather than the resignation of William Zeundt, Wells' president and chief operating officer. Mr. Salem called Mr. Zeundt's departure "a great loss."
