A Dec. 28 news brief on page 10 about plans of three Japanese banks to merge their investment management units misstated the response of Bob Wolff, a spokesman for Sanwa Bank of California, to a reporters phone calls. Mr. Wolff spoke with the reporter early on Dec. 27, but press time had passed before he called back with someone who would discuss the matter.
The Dec. 22 table Bank Holding Companies Ranked by Business Loans as Pct. of All Loans on page 13 was inconsistent in its presentation of dollar figures. The sub-headline that said all such figures would be in thousands did not apply to the last column, whose figures were written out in full. A corrected version of the table appears today on page 14.
