Sears, Roebuck and Co. has offered its Discover card customers a cashback bonus in the form of an annual check since January 1989. A reference to the Discover card in an earlier edition could have been read to indicate that Discover still offers the bonus in the form of a credit at Sears stores, which was the case before January 1989.
