enhanced its credit data base with demographic information from American Business Information, Metromail Corp., the National Center for Fraud Analysis, and Disclosure Inc. The additions to the bureau's Business Analysis and Customer Approval System - Bacas - are designed to uncover consumer or business frauds when credit is applied for at points of sale. "In addition to obtaining credit report information from all the major bureaus, Bacas users will be able to access this service and verify the identity and creditworthiness of applicants before transactions," Harry Cutts, president of NIB, said of the new Fraud Application Verification System. Mr. Cutts said it will combat the use of fake names, addresses, driver's licenses, and Social Security numbers that cause billions of dollars of credit losses a year.
