Cross-Certification for Citi ID System

Citigroup Inc. has become the first banking company to cross-certify its identity management system with the CertiPath information-sharing bridge serving the aerospace and defense industry, CertiPath LLC plans to announce today.

Citi's Global Transaction Services cash management unit worked with CertiPath, of Herndon, Va., to become a CertiPath Certified Credential Provider, demonstrating that the New York financial company's identity credentialing services meet the military-grade standard required to conduct business with the federal government electronically.

Members of CertiPath's community — including Boeing Co., Lockheed-Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp., Raytheon Co. and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. NV — rely on trusted digital identities to secure document and e-mail exchanges, authenticate users to applications or encrypt files and as well, to make physical access to facilities more secure.

Citi also provides digital identities to corporate clients for performing financial and pharmaceutical transactions through its Managed Identity Services business.
