CVS Chooses ACI for Check Authorization Service

ACI Worldwide Inc. announced Monday that CVS Caremark Corp. chose to use its check management service at its CVS Pharmacy stores.

ACI, of New York, said its Retail Commerce Server authorizes check transactions at the register by analyzing a customer's check-writing history. The software replaces CVS Pharmacy's "paper-based check system," ACI said in a press release.

The retailer is "live today" and using the software, said Ralph Dangelmaier, ACI's president of global markets and services, in a press release.

CVS "explored a number of different solutions to solve its check authorization challenge," he said. "I am delighted that the company selected Retail Commerce Service."

Retail Commerce Server is managed in ACI's software-as-a-service environment, ACI On Demand. CVS, of Woonsocket, R.I., operates about 7,300 stores and serves about 5 million customers a day.
