DHCU Community Credit Union Opts for Cloud-Based Microsoft Office Software

In one of the first adoptions in the financial services industry we've seen of Microsoft's cloud-delivered version of Office, DHCU Community Credit Union has implemented the solution, the companies announced Thursday.

The technology will not be provided directly from Microsoft, but from the credit union's core processing software provider, Jack Henry's Symitar subsidiary. Jack Henry (JKHY) will also provide added disaster recovery and technical support.

The $450 million-assets credit union, which is based in Moline, Ill., has been using Symitar's Episys platform for almost 15 years and recently migrated to EASE, the outsourced version of the Episys solution. Having also outsourced other systems, DHCU Community Credit Union sought to do the same with its communications server, which was overdue for an upgrade. The credit union recognized the immediate cost savings to run a hosted solution, including the elimination of licensing, ongoing hardware updates, and required internal IT resources.

"Exchange licensing, routine upgrades, and general IT maintenance are costly, but Office 365 eliminates those expenses and enables our tech staff to focus on other projects," said Nadine Coon, IT manager for DHCU Community Credit Union, in a statement. "We can also be assured that we have a reliable service network by entrusting all support to Symitar."
