The Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA unit is Mexico's largest bank and the top provider of remote capture, Digital Check said Wednesday.

BBVA Bancomer started offering its remote capture service to large and midsize business customers in 2005. Last year the bank received more than 2.6 million electronic deposits valued at more than $7 billion through the service, which enables businesses to convert checks into digital images and transmit them to the bank for deposit. Users say this saves them time and money because they don't have to go to a branch to make deposits.

Rene Nosti, BBVA Bancomer's director of enterprise and government banking, said in a Digital Check press release that the service reduces users' costs dramatically, "giving customers quicker access to their deposits."
