Fidelity Homestead Savings Bank of New Orleans has agreed to use a data network operated by ERF Wireless Inc. to link its branches and data center.
ERF, of League City, Tex., is building several wireless networks in the Southeast aimed at financial companies, and eventually plans to connect them to create a national data network.
Fidelity Homestead initially plans to connect its headquarters with its Baton Rouge data center within the next several months. When that is complete, it plans to add its 20 branches to the system.
ERF has said it is targeting banks in the Gulf Coast states by promoting its service as a component of a disaster recovery plan.
