Executive Changes

WEST

Bank of Manhattan of El Segundo, Calif., announced the resignation of Jeffrey M. Watson, its president and chief executive.

Watson has also stepped down as director of the $110 million-asset bank. Before joining the bank in 2007, Watson had been an executive vice president and the chief operating officer at 1st Century Bank in Los Angeles. Earlier he had worked for Hemet Federal Bank.

Harry W. Chenoweth will be the interim CEO. He is a founding member of the board of directors of the bank. He was the president of Barrister Executive Suites Inc., and before that was the executive vice president of Imperial Bank of Los Angeles.

Syringa Bancorp of Boise has promoted Scott Gibson to president and chief executive of its Syringa Bank.

Gibson had been an executive vice president and the chief credit officer of the bank. Before that he was a senior vice president. He succeeded Jerry F. Adalpe as president and CEO of the bank.

Adalpe will remain the president and CEO of Syringa Bancorp, which has $269 million of assets.

California United Bank in Encino has hired Jane L. Weblemoe as a senior vice president and credit administrator.

Weblemoe had been a vice president of First Regional Bank in Westlake Village since 2003. Before that she was a senior vice president and regional manager at U.S. Bank in Santa Monica. Earlier she was a supervisor of loan originations at Pacific Century Bank.

The $461 million-asset bank also hired Paul Verdon as a senior vice president and regional manager of its Santa Monica market.

Verdon had been a senior vice president and regional manager at First Regional Bank in Santa Monica since 1998. Before that he had been a senior vice president at Santa Monica Bank since 1983.

First Commerce Bank of Encino, Calif., has hired Richard Hensley as senior vice president of commercial banking.

Hensley had been a senior vice president at First Regional Bank since 1995. Before that he had worked at America West Bank since 1992.

First Commerce Bank has $327 million of assets.


MIDWEST

Associated Banc-Corp of Green Bay, Wis., has hired Oliver Buechse as an executive vice president and its chief strategy officer.

Buechse was the head of strategy for Union Bank and also led the North American vision and portfolio strategy for Union Bank's parent, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc.

Associated Banc-Corp has $22 billion of assets.


SOUTHEAST

Mutual of Omaha Bank in Nebraska has promoted Kevin Hale to executive vice president and director of community banking.

Hale will also oversee wealth management for the $3.7 billion-asset bank. He had been Florida market president since he joined the bank in October 2008 and has led the expansion of the bank throughout the state.

Before that he had been president and chief executive of Fifth Third Bank in Florida, which he joined when Fifth Third Bancorp bought his previous employer, F.N.B. Corp. He had been the president and chief operating officer of that company and its First National Bank of Florida.

Earlier he was the president and chief operating officer of the southwestern Florida region of SunTrust Banks Inc.

GreenBank of Greenville, Tenn., has hired Lloyd L. Montgomery 3rd as the president of its east region, which includes the five counties around Knoxville.

Montgomery had most recently been a director, president and chief operating officer of First Security Group Inc.

Before that he was a regional president for First American National Bank. Earlier he was the city president for Knoxville at First American.

GreenBank has $2.7 billion of assets.


SOUTHWEST

PlainsCapital Bank of Lubbock has hired Shawn Howard as a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager in its wealth management and trust division.

Howard was a market leader and senior portfolio manager at Bank of Texas.

PlainsCapital has $4.6 billion of assets.
