MIDWEST

PrivateBancorp Inc. in Chicago has hired Hammad Pirzada as a managing director and its corporate director and James Bennett as its chief technology officer, and it promoted Elizabeth Cummings to chief information officer.

Pirzada had been the corporate treasurer and vice president of corporate finance at TransUnion Corp. since 2008. Before that he was the senior vice president of corporate acquisitions at LaSalle Bank Corp. He is to report to Kevin Killips, the $12.1 billion-asset PrivateBancorp's chief financial officer.

Bennett was with an information technology consulting firm, FC Partners Group LLC. Before that he had been a senior vice president and the head of infrastructure at the Chicago Board of Trade for six years. Earlier he worked 11 years at Bank One Corp. He is to report to Cummings.

She will also oversee the company's project management office. She joined the company in 2008 as chief operations officer and a managing director of PrivateBank Chicago. Before that she was the senior vice president of global client service and implementation at JPMorgan Chase & Co. She is to report to Brant Ahrens, PrivateBancorp's chief operating officer.


SOUTHEAST

BankUnited in Coral Gables, Fla., has hired Dan Overbey as the president of its securities and investments arm and Rose M. Haga as a senior vice president and loan servicing manager.

Overbey was the president and chief executive officer of the brokerage arm at Colonial BancGroup, which BB&T Corp. bought last August.

Before that he was a senior vice president and national sales manager in the wealth management group at First Horizon National Corp. in Memphis, where he had worked for 20 years.

Haga was a mortgage operations manager at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Before that she was a senior vice president and director of loan operations at Citigroup Inc., where she had worked for 14 years.

BankUnited has $11.2 billion of assets.


WEST

California United Bank in Encino has hired Ted Vournas as a senior vice president and the regional manager for Glendale and the San Gabriel Valley and Leslie Lyons as a vice president and commercial banking relationship manager.

Vournas had held a similar job at First Regional Bank since 2000. Before that he had been a vice president and manager at Community Bank in Pasadena, Calif., since 1990. Earlier he was a vice president and manager at Security Pacific Bank, where he had begun his career 20 years earlier.

Lyons was a first vice president of First Regional Bank, which she joined in 2000. Before that she had been a vice president of Community Bank. She began her career in 1977 with First Interstate Bank.

California United has $456 million of assets.
