Acordia Inc., the Chicago insurance subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co., has hired Renita Wolf as the controller for its central region.
Ms. Wolf, who has also been named a vice president, will work out of Acordia's Colorado Springs office.
She was the manager of global financial services at Agilent Technologies Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif., company that manufactures scientific instruments and analysis equipment. Before that she had been the chief financial officer at SRC Computers Inc., a hardware and software developer in Colorado Springs that she had helped to found.
She has 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
Moneris Solutions Inc. of Chicago has hired J. Brian Merena as its senior vice president of financial institutions.
The credit card processing and merchant servicing company is a joint venture of Bank of Montreal and Royal Bank of Canada.
Mr. Merena was the senior vice president of sales at Diversified Acquiring Solutions Sales Corp., a payment processing company in Hauppauge, N.Y.
NEW ENGLANDPhoenix Cos. Inc. of Hartford, Conn. has hired Philip K. Polkinghorn as the executive vice president for its life and annuity manufacturing operations.
Mr. Polkinghorn was a vice president and the manager of the annuity business at Sun Life Financial Co. in Wellesley, Mass. He came to the company in 2001 when its parent, Sun Life Financial Inc. of Toronto, bought Keyport Life Insurance Co., of which he had been president.
Phoenix Cos. has also hired Amy Fisher as the institutional markets president of its asset management unit, Phoenix Investment Partners Ltd.
For the past two years Ms. Fisher has run her own consulting firm, Strategic Distribution Development LLC, which developed institutional and retail strategies for the high-net-worth market. Before that she had been a managing director of marketing, sales, and client services at John A. Levin & Co., a New York investment managing unit of BKF Capital Group Inc. Earlier she worked at Provident Investment Counsel Inc., a Pasadena, Calif., unit of Old Mutual PLC of London.
