Union Bank of California of San Francisco has hired Raymond Martinez as a vice president in the Los Angeles branch of its private bank and a relationship manager in the bank's legal specialty group.

Martinez had been a vice president and private banker at Citigroup Private Bank and had overseen banking, lending and investment services for lawyers and law firms since 2006. Union Bank is a unit of UnionBanCal Corp. UnionBanCal is owned by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc., which also owns Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.


MIDDLE ATLANTICCapital One Financial Corp. of McLean, Va., has promoted Darren Kay to business banking market sales executive for New York City.

Kay joined Capital One in 2008. Before that he had been a business banker at Bank of America Corp. since 2005.

 


Greenhill & Co. Inc., an advisory firm based in New York, has hired Robert K. Collins as a managing director in its Chicago office and James C. Stewart as a managing director in Los Angeles.Collins will oversee the infrastructure sector in the Americas. He was a managing director and the head of infrastructure investment banking for the Americas at Morgan Stanley.

Stewart was a managing director of real estate, lodging and leisure for UBS AG in Los Angeles.

He will oversee the opening of Greenhill's office in Los Angeles, which will primarily serve gambling, lodging and leisure clients.


SOUTHWESTComerica Inc. of Dallas has hired Bridget Cooney as a senior vice president and regional manager of its retail division in Arizona.

Cooney, who will be based in Phoenix, was the northeast Texas and Dallas market manager for JPMorgan Chase & Co. Before that she was a district manager in Phoenix.


INTERNATIONALMasterCard Inc. of Purchase, N.Y., has hired Vicky S. Bindra as president of its Asia-Pacific and Middle-East Africa division.

Bindra had been the president and chief executive officer of India for GE Capital Corp. since 2007. Before that he worked for Citibank in consumer and private banking, credit cards, small-business services and sales and marketing in New York and Singapore.

Bindra will join the company on June 1. He will succeed Andre Sekulic, who will retire as president but become an adviser with MasterCard and serve on a regional advisory board and the strategic payments services board.
