MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Delaware Distributors LP, the principal underwriter and national distribution arm of Philadelphia-based Delaware Investments, has hired John Ring as senior vice president and national sales manager of its retail retirement plans channel.

He reports to Bruce D. Barton, president and chief executive officer of Delaware Distributors.

For the past four years Mr. Ring was a senior vice president and national sales manager in Marlborough, Mass., for Boston-based Fidelity Investments. Before that he was vice president of institutional sales in Philadelphia for Fidelity. He has 22 years of institutional sales and sales management experience, including jobs at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Salomon Brothers Inc.

Delaware Investments is a diversified asset management company with $44 billion of assets under management.


Wilmington Trust Co. in Delaware has promoted Mark Graham to president of Wilmington Trust of Pennsylvania.Mr. Graham had been the company's Pennsylvania regional manager since 1996. He joined the company in 1983 as a securities specialist in the corporate financial services department and then became a senior banking officer. He was named an assistant vice president in 1989 and a vice president in 1991. Two years later he was promoted to group manager of commercial banking.

Wilmington Trust has $24 billion of assets under management.


Credit Suisse First Boston in New York has hired Diego Espinosa as chief U.S. equity market strategist.He will report to Al Jackson, global head of equity research.

Mr. Espinosa, 38, was a portfolio manager of Scudder Kemper Investments' Global Blue Chip Fund. Before that he was an equity analyst covering Latin America at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co.

At Credit Suisse he succeeded Christine Callies, who left to be chief U.S. investment strategist for institutional stock clients at Merrill Lynch & Co.


Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, the U.S. securities arm of Deustche Bank AG, Europe's biggest bank, has hired Mark Dawley and Dan Walton as managing directors of the industrials group in its global investment banking division.Mr. Dawley will be based in Chicago and will assemble a team to cover the capital goods sector and industrial manufacturing companies in the Midwest. He was co-head of diversified industries investment banking in Chicago at Banc of America Securities, his employer for five years.

Mr. Walton will be based in Los Angeles and will cover food equipment manufacturing, home builders, and industrial companies in the West. He comes from Los Angeles-based Wedbush Morgan Securities, where he focused on industrial mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Dawley and Mr. Walton will report to Charles Denison and Rich Thaler, co-heads of Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown's industrials group.


SOUTHEASTNational City Corp. of Cleveland has hired Jon Younger to fill the newly created post of senior vice president of leadership.

His responsibilities will include attracting and retaining leaders, as well as establishing a leadership development curriculum and a rigorous management performance system.

Mr. Younger, 48, was executive vice president and chief operating officer at NetValue USA, the U.S. division of NetValue SA, a French company whose business is measuring Internet activity.

Earlier he was president and chief executive officer of Novations Group Inc., a New York-based human resource management consulting firm that he co-founded. Before that he held senior posts at Exxon Corp.

National City has $85 billion of assets.


WESTDresdner RCM Global Investors - Dresdner Bank Group's institutional asset management business outside Germany - has named Camilo Martinez as co-portfolio manager of the Dresdner RCM Biotechnology Fund.

He is based in San Francisco.

Dr. Martinez had been an analyst focusing on biotechnology and genomics companies for the unit's health-care research team. He joined it last year, having practiced as an internist for two years.

As co-manager of the Biotechnology Fund he succeeded Michael Dauchot, who remains co-manager of the Dresdner RCM Global Health Care Fund. Their co-manager in both is Faraz Naqvi.
