National City Corp. in Cleveland has named senior vice president David Stone as credit department manager for the Columbus, Ohio, area.

Mr. Stone, who is vice chairman of the company's business loan committee and a member of the senior loan committee, was the national marketing manager for National City Commercial Finance Co.

He has worked for National City and its subsidiaries for 12 years and has held management posts in its business service group, multinational, and metro Cleveland divisions.


TCF Financial Corp. in Minneapolis has named Thomas J. Wagner president of its Michigan banking offices. He succeeds Mark Jeter, who was recently named president of the company's Minnesota banking offices.Mr. Wagner was the executive vice president of commercial lending in Michigan, where he was responsible for the commercial and real estate group, commercial and industrial lending, business banking, and cash management. Before joining the company in 1996 he was director of business development at Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Michigan National Bank, where he had worked 20 years.

Mr. Jeter had been the Michigan president for two years. Before joining TCF in 1985 he was the retail asset manager in consumer banking at the former Norwest Bank Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he worked for eight years.

Mr. Wagner and Mr. Jeter report to Lynn Nagorske, president of TCF Financial Corp.

Terrence K. McHugh succeeds Mr. Wagner as executive vice president of commercial lending and reports to him.

Mr. McHugh was head of the commercial and industrial section of commercial lending. Before joining TCF in 1997 he was group vice president of middle-market lending at Michigan National, where he had worked for 18 years.

TCF Financial has $11 billion of assets.
