Hibernia National Bank in New Orleans has hired Ted Saba as its vice president of distributed services.

Mr. Saba is in charge of the design and implementation of the bank's distributed computing infrastructures, including servers, workstations, network-based operating systems, and telecommunications.

He was a senior staff telecommunications engineer at Exxon Mobil Corp. in Irving, Tex. He has 25 years of telecommunication and systems field experience.

The bank has also has hired Andrew R. Heusel as controller of its commercial banking business and David Johnston as a commercial real estate officer.

Mr. Heusel was an accounting manager at Boston Laser Plus Inc. in Shrewsbury, Mass. He has three years of banking experience.

Mr. Johnston is responsible for developing new commercial real estate business in southeast Louisiana and Alabama. He was a loan officer at First Tennessee Bank in Memphis and has five years of banking experience.

Hibernia has also promoted John Morton 4th, who serves private and business banking customers in the New Orleans area, to vice president.

Before joining Hibernia last year Mr. Morton had been a vice president at Bank One Corp. He has 15 years of banking experience.


MIDDLE ATLANTICGMAC Commercial Mortgage Co. in Horsham, Pa., has hired Jose A. Perez as a vice president and the manager of the agency loan portfolio in its servicing department.

The portfolio includes Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and HUD loans.

Mr. Perez was the head of national asset management at WMF Group Ltd., which was acquired last year by Prudential Mortgage Capital Co. of Newark, N.J. He was responsible for the servicing and asset management operations for WMF's two subsidiaries, WMF Washington Mortgage Corp. and WMF/Huntoon, Paige Associates Ltd.

He has 22 years of real estate finance and mortgage securitization experience.

Certco Inc. in New York has hired David L. Stine as its chief technology officer.

Certco provides corporations, financial institutions, online exchanges, and governments with B-to-B electronic commerce risk management and security infrastructures.

Mr. Stine, 45, was a partner and managing director and the Oracle practice leader at KPMG Consulting, where he worked for four years. Before that he had been the manager of the Baan practice at Ernst & Young LLP, where he worked for two years.

He started his career as a software engineer at McDonnell Douglas Corp. He has 20 years of experience in software engineering, project management, and consulting, including senior consulting jobs at Keane Inc. of Boston and Whitman Hart LLP of Chicago.

He reports to June Yee Felix, Certco's chairman and CEO.


Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York has hired Sanji Sobti, a managing director in J.P. Morgan & Co.'s financial services group, as a senior managing director in the financial institutions group of investment banking.
