Banknorth Group Inc. in Portland, Maine, has promoted assistant vice presidents Gary A. Casselman, Alyson I. Lewis, and Sheila A. Gleason to vice president.

Their responsibilities did not change.

Mr. Casselman is a network security manager in the technology risk management department. He joined the company in 1999 as a Y2K project manager. He reports to Thomas Prince, senior vice president of technology services.

Ms. Lewis is a segment leader in the electronic commerce department and a developer of electronic delivery products. She joined Banknorth in 1996 as a manager of debit and ATM cards. She has eight years of banking experience and reports to Barbara Rehm, senior vice president of e-commerce.


FleetBoston Financial Corp. has hired Marc White as the head of sales, marketing, and product development in its private clients group.He was also named an executive vice president and a managing director. He reports to Kathleen McGillycuddy, executive vice president and head of the group.

Mr. White was the managing director in charge of senior client relationships, institutional equity and fixed-income sales, private-client services, and equity research in New England for Credit Suisse First Boston Corp. He had joined First Boston Corp. in 1985, having started his 22-year financial services career at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets.
