NEW ENGLAND

FleetBoston Financial Corp. has hired Gail C. Graham to fill the newly created post of managing director in charge of wealth management in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, upstate New York, and portions of Connecticut for its private clients group.

She was also named an executive vice president. She reports to Kathleen M. McGillycuddy, executive vice president and head of the private clients group.

Ms. Graham was the executive vice president in the private client group at PNC Advisors, a business unit of PNC Financial Services Group Inc. She joined PNC Financial Services in 1997 as the marketing director. Before that she had been a senior vice president and the managing director for private banking operations in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia at First Union National Bank.

She began her banking career in 1982 at BankBoston Corp., which Fleet Financial Corp. bought in 1999.


Mellon Financial Corp. in Pittsburgh has hired Elizabeth A. Daly as a vice president and an estate planning manager at the Boston office of its Mellon Private Asset Management.Ms. Daly was a senior associate in the trust and estates department at the Boston law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, where she worked for four years.

She has 10 years of experience in wealth management.


MIDWESTA.G. Edwards Inc. in St. Louis has promoted Amelia A.J. Bond to director of the public finance department.

She succeeded Charles T. Forrest, who was named head of its fixed-income operations. Ms. Bond is based in St. Louis and reports to Paul Pautler, executive vice president and director of the investment banking division.

Ms. Bond was the assistant manager of the public finance department. She has been an investment banker working on Missouri, Texas, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, and North Dakota at the firm for 15 years. She started her investment banking career in the health-care group at Kidder, Peabody & Co.


Provident Financial Group Inc. in Cincinnati has hired Cary M. Sierzputowski as the vice president in charge of portfolio management and underwriting at Provident Business Credit, a division of its Provident CapitalCorp., a national middle-market financing business.Mr. Sierzputowski was a senior vice president at Dallas-based Comerica Bank-Texas, a subsidiary of Comerica Inc. in Detroit. Before that he had been a vice president and the manager of Comerica's Indianapolis commercial lending office.

He has 16 years of banking experience.


MIDDLE ATLANTICBear, Stearns & Co. Inc. in New York has hired Michael Lexton as a senior managing director in the public finance department.

Mr. Lexton was the co-head of the public finance group and the head of the transportation group at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he worked for two years. Before that he had held a similar job as a managing director at Lehman Brothers Inc., where he worked for 10 years.

He started his career in 1979 at Smith Barney (now part of Salomon Smith Barney Inc.), where he worked for 11 years, most recently as a managing director.


SOUTHEASTAmSouth Bank in Birmingham, Ala., has promoted Danny E. Morgan to Fort Myers president.

He succeeded Keith A. Crissman, who was named the consumer banking manager for the west coast of Florida.

Mr. Morgan has been with the bank since 1996 and has held jobs in the Tampa Bay area as a branch manager, a business banker, and a business banking team leader.


WESTZions Bancorp in Salt Lake City has hired George W. Helme 4th as its executive vice president for trust and investment management.

He is based in Century City, Calif.

Mr. Helme was the senior vice president for trust and private banking at Wilmington Trust Co. in Delaware. Before that he had been chairman and chief executive officer of its Salisbury, Md.-based Wilmington Trust FSB.
