ABN Amro North America Inc. in Chicago has promoted Lynn M. Orawiec, the head of its Midwest call centers, telesales, customer service, and online customer support, to group senior vice president of direct banking.

Her responsibilities have not changed.

Ms. Orawiec, 45, is also a member of the retail information technology steering committee of the ABN Amro Holding NV subsidiary and the chairwoman of the voice response technology committee at its LaSalle Bank.

She joined ABN Amro North America in 1991, when LaSalle bought her previous employer, Exchange National Bank of Chicago, where she had been the vice president of retail strategy. Before that she had been the senior marketing manager of retail banking at Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago, which the old BankAmerica Corp. bought in 1994.

Still earlier she had been the senior counselor of residential mortgage lending at First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Chicago, which Citibank acquired in 1991.

ABN Amro North America has $183 billion of assets.


Northern Trust Corp. in Chicago has named Beverly J. Fleming director of investor relations and a senior vice president.Ms. Fleming, 43, was the senior vice president of the company's personal financial services marketing department. Before that she had been a vice president in its subsidiary banks administration division.

She has been with Northern Trust since 1981.


National City Corp. in Cleveland has promoted Jeff Honroth, David J. Schamer, and Dirk Steinmeier to senior vice president.Their responsibilities do not change.

Mr. Honroth is the company's risk manager. He reports to treasurer Tom Richlovsky. Before joining National City in 1986, Mr. Honroth had been a public accountant at Ernst & Young.

Mr. Schamer has been the chief financial officer of National City's consumer finance division since rejoining the company in May. He came from Mead Corp. in Dayton, Ohio, where he had been a controller and earlier an audit manager. Before that he had been an assistant vice president in institutional investments at the Louisville-based National City Bank of Kentucky.

Mr. Steinmeier has been National City's director of business performance improvement since May. Before that he was the manager of the performance enhancement group at Old Kent Financial Corp. in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he had earlier been the chief financial officer for operations and technology and the manager of electronic banking. Still earlier he had been a senior financial analyst and an internal consultant at Unisys Corp. in Detroit and, even earlier, at VF Corp. in Greensboro, N.C.


MIDDLE ATLANTICBAIGlobal, a financial services market research company in Tarrytown, N.Y., has promoted Robert Skolnick to president and chief executive officer.

He succeeded Kathleen Knight, who was named president emeritus and will be a consultant to the company through yearend.

Mr. Skolnick had been the executive vice president of BAIGlobal since 1995. He joined it in 1985 and founded its competitive tracking services division, which offers direct mail response tracking to the credit card industry.

He has 25 years of market research experience.


SOUTHEASTPrudential Bank and Trust Co. in Atlanta has hired Richard B. Vivona as the chief investment officer and a senior vice president in its trust services division.

Mr. Vivona was a senior vice president in Atlanta for Bank of America Corp.'s private investment group. He has 25 years of banking experience, including jobs at First Fidelity Asset Management, Wachovia Investment Management, and SunTrust Bank.

Prudential Bank, a unit of Prudential Financial in Newark, N.J., has $733 million of assets.


First Mercantile Trust Co., a Memphis unit of National Commerce Financial Bancorp., has hired Ryan McCartney as the marketing communications director.Mr. McCartney was the marketing director at Town and Country Electric Inc. in Appleton, Wis. Before that he had been a public relations assistant at Road America Inc., which operates an auto racing track in Elkhart Lake. Still earlier he had been a communications specialist at Badger Boxed Meats in Little Chute.
