NEW ENGLAND

UBS AG of Zurich has promoted Philip Lofts to group chief risk officer.

Mr. Lofts also has joined UBS' group executive board. He will be based in Stamford, Conn.

He was the deputy group chief risk officer and chief operating officer for risk. Before that he had been group chief credit officer of UBS' investment bank.

He will succeed Joseph Scoby, who returned to his former position as global head of alternative and quantitative investments for the global asset management department. Mr. Scoby had been the group chief risk officer since last year

MIDWEST

Zurich Financial Services North America of Schaumburg, Ill., has promoted Christopher Haarmann to chief underwriting officer of its specialties business.

Mr. Haarmann had been the senior vice president and the head of the global liability line of business since February. In that position, he helped create Zurich's global underwriting technical center. Before that he had started its structured solutions group.

He has worked for Zurich Financial Services North America since 1998.

SOUTHEAST

Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., has hired Rex Bradley as its executive vice president of commercial real estate.

Mr. Bradley worked in Irvine, Calif., for Bank of America Corp. as a managing director and a commercial real estate executive for the western United States and Canada. Before that he had been the commercial real estate executive for Florida.

WEST

UCBH Holdings Inc. of San Francisco has promoted Craig S. On to executive vice president and chief financial officer of the company and its United Commercial Bank.

Mr. On had been the senior vice president and interim CFO since May. Before that he had been the deputy CFO for UCBH since March.

Earlier he had been the senior vice president and corporate controller for the company since 2005.


Wells Fargo & Co. of San Francisco has hired Robert Williams as a senior vice president and Western regional claims manager for its Wells Fargo Insurance Services Inc.

Mr. Williams was the senior legal counsel in Burlingame, Calif., for DHL International GmBh. Earlier he had been the company's tender and business development manager in Moscow.

He will be based in San Francisco and will report to H. David Wood, the regional managing director of business development and operations.
