NEW ENGLAND

Bank of New York Mellon Corp. in New York has hired Jeffrey B. Saef as the director of multistrategy investment solutions for its asset management division.

Mr. Saef, who will be based in Boston, was an executive vice president and a director of institutional investment strategies at Pyramis Global Advisors, the institutional investment arm of Fidelity Investments. He was also a member of the executive management team at Pyramis, where he had established its institutional product line.

Before joining Pyramis he had been a managing director and head of investment strategy at Putnam Investments.

MIDWEST

Bank of America Corp. has promoted Kathy Lacy to market president for Topeka, Kan.

Ms. Lacy will remain a member of the Charlotte company's consumer and small-business banking team. She had been a community bank executive since 2004.

She joined B of A in 1998 as a banking center manager in Topeka.

The market Ms. Lacy will oversee includes Topeka, Lawrence, Junction City, and Emporia.

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. of New York has hired Peter Hornick as a managing director and the head of credit sales for the institutional clients group within the Deutsche Bank AG unit's global markets division.

Mr. Hornick had overseen trading, sales, and research as the head of the collateralized debt obligations group at Lehman Brothers. Before that he had been the global head of levered credit sales at Lehman, where he had worked since 2002.

Earlier he had been a derivatives trader at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc.

He will be based in New York and will report to Lou Jaffe, a managing director and the head of debt sales for the Americas for the institutional clients group.

WEST

Wells Fargo & Co. of San Francisco has hired Bruce Anderson as the senior vice president and account executive for its Wells Fargo Insurance Services Inc.

Mr. Anderson was a senior vice president and client executive at Marsh Risk and Insurance Services Inc. in San Francisco. Before that he had been the president of Mineral Resources International Inc. in Ogden, Utah.

He will be based in the company's Redwood City, Calif., office and will oversee the real estate and property management business for Northern California, including the San Francisco Bay Area.
