Wells Fargo & Co. has promoted John Sotoodeh to regional president of community banking in Los Angeles and Lisa Stevens to regional president of community banking in California.

Mr. Sotoodeh's region includes Ventura, Santa Barbara, and western San Bernardino counties. He was the regional president for community banking in Southern California, which includes San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. He joined Wells in 1990 as a teller.

He succeeded Shelley Freeman who was promoted to regional president of community banking in Florida.

Ms. Stevens was the head of community banking for the San Francisco Bay area and Oregon. She succeeded Laura Schulte, who now oversees Wells' East Coast business based in Charlotte.


MIDDLE ATLANTICMasterCard Inc. of Purchase, N.Y., has hired Melissa Ballenger as its controller and principal accounting officer.

Ms. Ballenger was the senior vice president, controller, and principal accounting officer at Washington Mutual Inc. until JPMorgan Chase & Co., bought it last September.

She succeeded Tara Maguire, who was promoted to group executive of corporate planning and financial analysis.

 


 Deutsche Bank AG of Frankfurt has hired Venkat Badinehal, Eric Heaton, David Heaton, Seth Heaton, and as managing directors in New York.

Mr. Badinehal and the three Mr. Heatons, joined the company from Merrill Lynch & Co.'s financial institutions investment banking group, where they oversaw coverage for U.S. depository institutions including U.S. affiliates of European banks.

Eric Heaton was the treasurer at Merrill, and David Heaton was Merrill's head of global asset management and investment banking.

All are to report to Jorge Calderon, the head of global corporate finance coverage and the global head of the financial institutions group at Deutsche Bank.
