NEW ENGLAND

Royal Bank of Scotland Group Ltd. of Edinburgh has hired Scott Lang as a managing director of its regional dealer sales for U.S. dollar rates department in the global banking and markets division and Eugene Rigo as a managing director on the U.S. primary dealership desk.

Lang oversaw the distribution of cash, derivative products and structured products to regional dealers at Goldman Sachs LLP. Before that he was a vice president in the structured products and derivatives division at JPMorgan Securities Inc.

Rigo is to oversee the trading of two- and three-year Treasury coupons. He was the executive director of trading zero- to three-year Treasury coupons at UBS AG. Before that he was a treasury trader at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Inc.

Lang and Rigo are to be based in Stamford, Conn.


MIDWESTDeutsche Bank Securities Inc. in New York has hired Jeff Knupp as a director in the institutional clients group of the global markets division.

Knupp, who is based in Chicago, will oversee global prime finance sales in the Midwest. He was an executive director for prime brokerage sales in the Midwest at Morgan Stanley. Before that he worked in the corporate strategy and development unit of Citadel Investment Group LLC.

He is to report to Stephen Latham, the director of global prime finance sales.


MIDDLE ATLANTICJPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York has hired William Rifkin as the vice chairman of mergers and acquisitions in its investment banking arm.

Rifkin was the chairman of global mergers and acquisitions at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. He joined Merrill in 1995 from Salomon Brothers, where he had been a co-head of mergers and acquisitions.

He is to begin his new job in September and report to Jimmy Elliott, the global head of mergers and acquisitions.


WESTUnionBanCal Corp., the San Francisco unit of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc., has hired Mark W. Midkiff as its deputy chief credit officer.

Midkiff had been an executive vice president and the chief risk officer of the general banking group at the former Wachovia Corp. since 2005. Before that he had been the chief risk officer for the company's real estate financial services division beginning in 2002. Earlier he was a manager of the real estate business since 1998. He joined Wachovia in 1984 as a senior credit analyst, relationship manager and real estate risk manager in Atlanta.

He is to report to Bruce H. Cabral, a senior executive vice president and the chief credit officer.
